A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two fatal shootings in Brooklyn and the Bronx that occurred just days apart, according to police. Jesus Acosta was taken into custody Saturday morning following a multi-day manhunt.

Authorities allege that Acosta was involved in two separate robbery-related shootings.

The first incident occurred on August 23 in Brownsville, Brooklyn, at a restaurant. 44-year-old Md. Yousuf was shot in the head and later died. Another person was also shot in the leg and injured during the incident.

Two days later, another shooting occurred during an alleged robbery at a bodega in the Bronx. 33-year-old Taivon Shuler was shot and later died at a hospital.

Police said the two incidents were connected to robberies and allege that Acosta was responsible for both killings.

Investigators released surveillance images and asked the public for assistance in locating Acosta. A tip later led police to a park in the Soundview section of the Bronx, where officers arrested him.

Acosta faces multiple charges, including two counts of murder, attempted murder, robbery and weapons-related offenses. He is expected to appear in court as the investigation continues.

Police said Acosta has a prior criminal history and was released on parole in April. His previous record is also expected to come under further scrutiny as investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the shootings.

The two killings caused concern in the affected Brooklyn and Bronx neighborhoods. Authorities said the arrest marks a major development in the investigation, but the case remains ongoing.

The allegations against Acosta have not been proven in court, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
