Ahead of his arrival in New York City for the UN General Assembly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blasted Mayor Zohan Mamdani in a searingly brief video statement Tuesday, once again accusing him of supporting terrorists and encouraging violence against Jewish people.
“Shame on you, Mr. Mamdani,” Netanyahu said as he delivered those allegations.
He pledged to directly address the mayor in his Thursday speech to the United Nations General Assembly.
“I’m coming to the UN,” Netanyahu said. “I’m going to tell the truth about our heroic soldiers, and I’m going to tell the truth about you.”
It follows Mamdani’s Monday night comments, in a post-President Donald Trump meeting press conference interview with CNN, that doubled down on his calls for Netanyahu’s arrest. The mayor called him “a war criminal” who architected “a horrific genocide of the Palestinan people.”
Their tete-a-tete dates back months.
Previously, Mamdani had pledged to arrest Netanyahu if he traveled to New York City. He later acknowledged he lacked the authority to do that but continues to say the International Criminal Court warrant should be upheld.
