The New York-based Shah Foundation has reached out with humanitarian aid to Karachi, the capital of Sindh province in Pakistan.

On December 10, the Shah Foundation provided financial assistance of Rs. 6 lakh to the School for Children with Special Needs and Slow Learners, an institution dedicated to supporting autistic children in Karachi. Khurshid Khan, representing the Shah Foundation, handed over the donation to the school’s board of directors.

Officials from the School for Children with Special Needs and Slow Learners highlighted that the institution focuses on teaching autistic children skills such as reading, drawing, and singing, while also providing specialized care through dedicated teachers and staff. The school is exploring additional therapeutic services and treatments to better address the needs of autistic children.

They noted that with sufficient financial support, it would be possible to expand the range of services offered and further meet the needs of these children.

Shah J. Chowdhury, Founder and Trustee of the Shah Foundation, expressed his thoughts on the initiative:
“Since its inception, Shah Foundation has been committed to serving people in need. Our organization has always extended support to vulnerable communities in the United States, Bangladesh, and India. With this small effort, we aimed to support this school in Karachi. Autistic children often face challenges in communication, social interactions, and adapting to their environment.”

He continued, “The School for Children with Special Needs and Slow Learners is doing crucial work to help these children develop social skills and become self-reliant. We are proud to be a part of this important mission.”
