Sadia J. Choudhury। New York: The recently held Bangladesh Day Parade in Jackson Heights, New York, concluded in a vibrant and festive atmosphere, drawing widespread appreciation across the Bangladeshi community. The parade was attended by prominent mainstream political leaders and distinguished guests, including U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng, Tom Suozzi, State Senator Jessica Ramos, Assembly Member Steven Raga, Assemblywoman Jessica González-Rojas, and New York City Council Member Shekar Krishnan. The successful event continues to receive praise within the Bangladeshi community.

A mega event of this scale requires meticulous planning, strong organizational leadership, and the tireless dedication of many individuals working behind the scenes. Alongside the frontline organizers, those who contributed quietly and consistently were formally recognized for their invaluable support.

On June 4, a modest ceremony was held at the Nabanno Party Center in Jackson Heights, where special recognition certificates were awarded to these dedicated contributors by the Bangladesh Day Parade Executive Committee.

The event was led by Member Secretary Fahad Solaiman. Also present on behalf of the committee were Chief Grand Marshal M. Aziz, Convener Gias Ahmed, and Chairman Attorney Moin Chowdhury. Community activist Paul Khan was also in attendance. The program was smoothly coordinated by Chief Event Coordinator FEMD Rocky.

Among those honored for their outstanding contributions were lyricist and children’s literature writer Humayun Kabir Dhali, who authored the parade’s theme song, and renowned musician and composer Ibrar Tipu, who composed its music.

Certificates were also presented to popular vocal artists of the community including Kamruzzaman Babul, Shah Mahbub, Nazu Akand, Bindukona, Aftab Jony, Trinia Hasan, Krishno Tithi, as well as presenter Sharmin Sonia, Mrs. Rocky, and graphic designer Abdullah Al Noman.

Speakers expressed gratitude to these behind-the-scenes contributors and voiced hope that in the future, Bangladeshi cultural heritage will be showcased on an even larger scale on the global stage.
