New York— Progressive New York lawmaker Zohran Mamdani has admitted that his ambitious $10 billion social agenda may require a “Plan B,” as questions mount over how such a sweeping initiative would be funded.
Mamdani’s proposals — which include universal healthcare expansion, rent control measures, and major green infrastructure investments — have drawn strong support from progressive groups. But critics say the plan lacks a clear and realistic funding mechanism.
In a recent discussion, Mamdani acknowledged that alternative funding options may need to be explored if his primary strategy falls short. While he didn’t disclose specific details, he suggested that phased implementation or budget reallocation could be part of the contingency plan.
