The Bangladeshi vocalist adds a new honour to a career spanning recordings, film soundtracks and international performances.
Bangladeshi singer Ronti Das has received the Dhallywood Award 2026 in the Best Melody Singer (Female) category, adding another distinction to her musical career. Singer Rizia Parveen presented the award to her at a ceremony in the United States.
Now based in New York, Das continues to build on a career that gained national attention through the 2006 edition of Close Up 1. Her work since then has encompassed contemporary Bangla songs, folk music and playback singing, alongside television appearances and live concerts.
Her repertoire includes “Hello Brishti,” “Hridoy Jekhane,” “Rong,” “Uraliya,” “Ekela” and “Obhimani.” She has also contributed vocals to film soundtracks, including Shubho Bibaho and Khoj: The Search, developing her presence across both recorded music and cinema.
Das has performed for audiences beyond Bangladesh, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. These engagements have extended her connection with Bangla-speaking listeners abroad while keeping Bangladeshi music central to her work.
Her previously reported honours include the RTV Music Award in 2020 and recognition at the T & T Consultancy Awards and Artist Journalist Foundation of Bangladesh Awards in 2023. The Dhallywood award is the latest addition to that record.
Alongside performing, Das is developing Ronti’s Music Kitchen, an initiative intended to offer music lessons and specialised voice training through online and in-person sessions. Its plans include free lessons for children with special needs.
Born in Chattogram, Das developed an interest in music during childhood with encouragement from her family. Her latest recognition comes as she brings teaching into her future plans, while continuing to pursue new recordings and opportunities to share Bangladesh’s musical traditions with international audiences.
