New York Wins 105–95, Brunson Leads Strong Finish in Opener

Sports Desk: The New York Knicks secured a 105–95 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1 of the NBA Finals 2026, taking an early lead in the series. The highly anticipated matchup delivered intense competition, with the Knicks pulling away in the final quarter to seal the win.

The game remained tightly contested throughout the first three quarters, with both teams level at 76–76 heading into the final period. However, the Knicks dominated the fourth quarter, capitalizing on Spurs’ turnovers and missed opportunities to take control of the game.

Brunson Leads the Charge

Jalen Brunson delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 30 points and leading the Knicks’ offense in crucial moments. His decisive plays in the final quarter shifted momentum firmly in New York’s favor. The Knicks also received strong contributions from their supporting cast on both ends of the floor, particularly in defense and rebounding.

For the Spurs, Victor Wembanyama impressed with 26 points and 12 rebounds, but the team struggled to maintain consistency under pressure in the closing stages.

Turning Point of the Game

The third quarter ended in a deadlock, but the Knicks executed a strong finishing run in the fourth quarter. A series of turnovers and defensive lapses from the Spurs proved costly, allowing New York to pull away.

Series Context

The matchup is being viewed as a battle between experience and youth:

* New York Knicks: chasing their first championship in decades
* San Antonio Spurs: building a new era around young superstar Victor Wembanyama

Analysts suggest this series could become a defining chapter in modern NBA Finals history.

Next Game

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for June 5, where the Spurs will look to bounce back while the Knicks aim to extend their lead.

Conclusion

While the Knicks have drawn first blood in the series, the NBA Finals remain wide open. With both teams showcasing contrasting strengths, the upcoming games
