New York: Presented by Show Time Music USA, the esteemed 13th NRB Taroka Awards 2023 unfolded at Queens Palace in New York last Sunday, December 3. Md. Kamruzzaman Millat, renowned for his stage drama performance, was given the “Best Theater Actor (Bangladesh 2023)” award, graciously presented by the acclaimed National Award-winning actress, Moushumi.

In expressing his sentiments upon receiving the award, Kamruzzaman Millat remarked that the reception of such accolades often feel akin to a personal journey. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to the organizers for orchestrating the event so magnificently, with special acknowledgment to Alamgir Khan Alam, the leader of Showtime Music.

Md. Kamruzzaman Millat immersed himself in theater back in 1990. His involvement with group theater drama practices, initially with Dhaka Prabhakar, became a regular pursuit. In 1992, he joined Theater Art Unit, a collective led by playwright, director, actor, and musician S M Solaiman.

His theatrical contributions extended beyond borders, featuring performances in Kolkata, Mayshur, Murshidabad, Tripura, Agartala, Assam, and the National School of Drama (NSD) in Delhi. He graced the stage in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2019, where the play “Hannah and Shapla” received applause from a predominantly foreign audience.

Recognizing his exceptional contributions to theater, Kamruzzaman Millat received the ‘Lalon Sai Award 2022’ on the 2nd anniversary of Lalon Sanskriti Dal at Shilpokala Academy’s Chitrashala Auditorium on February 14, 2023. Further accolades followed, as he served as a special guest at the 7th Indo-Bangla International Film Festival – 2023 in Kolkata on February 21, receiving the best theater actor award at Seram Auditorium. On March 18, at the IDB Bhavan Kakrail Seminar Hall, he was honored with the best theater actor award by ASR News. Additionally, he received the best theater actor award at the “World Fair and Feast 2023” organized by World Fair and Feast USA Inc. on August 6, at Gulshan Terrace, Woodside, New York, for his noteworthy contributions to the theater of Bangladesh.

Md. Kamruzzaman Millat is currently coordinating the renowned theater group “Theater Art Unit” in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
