New York City mayor plans joint campaign appearances with governor as Election Day approaches

— New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani plans to campaign alongside Gov. Kathy Hochul as the governor seeks reelection, bringing the two Democratic leaders together on the campaign trail ahead of Election Day.
Speaking with reporters Monday, Mamdani said his primary focus remains on New York City but indicated that he is prepared to campaign with Hochul and support her reelection effort. He also pointed to the work the two have done together in recent months.
Hochul’s campaign is expected to involve Mamdani in events aimed at reaching younger voters and encouraging greater participation among newer and less-engaged voters. Planned activities could include rallies, door-to-door outreach, volunteer events and discussions focused on the cost of living.
Mamdani and Hochul have worked together on several issues, including efforts involving child care and affordability. Mamdani has emphasized policies aimed at reducing the financial pressures facing working families and making New York more affordable for residents.
Hochul is facing Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman, the Nassau County executive. President Donald Trump has endorsed Blakeman in the governor’s race.
Mamdani has criticized Blakeman’s positions on immigration and public safety. Blakeman’s campaign, meanwhile, has highlighted the political relationship between Hochul and Mamdani as part of its campaign messaging.
Mamdani endorsed Hochul earlier this year. His planned appearances alongside the governor now add another dimension to the campaign as both candidates prepare for the final stretch before Election Day.
