Anadolu Agency: Former Polish President Lech Walesa has signed a letter addressed to US President Donald Trump, expressing “horror and distaste” over his clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to a report.
A letter, signed by Nobel Peace Prize winner Walesa and 30 former Polish political prisoners, criticized Trump for demanding Zelenskyy’s gratitude, calling it “insulting” given the ongoing Moscow-Kyiv war, the British daily The Guardian reported.
“Atmosphere in the Oval Office reminded us of what we remember well from interrogations” carried out by Poland’s communist secret police and regime courts, the signatories also said.
“The prosecutors and the judges, working on behalf of the omnipotent Communist party police, also told us that they held all the cards, and we held none,” they said.
They added that they “are shocked” that Trump “treated Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the same way.”
Walesa, the 1983 Nobel Peace Prize winner, led the Solidarity movement, which contributed to the collapse of communism in Poland.
