Entertainment Desk: Daniel Craig, the actor synonymous with James Bond for over 15 years, has stirred speculation about his successor with a cryptic comment at the 15th Governors Awards in Los Angeles. While introducing Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, recipients of the Irving G Thalberg Memorial Award, Craig teased the audience about the future of the legendary spy.
“If you’re here tonight hoping to learn who the next James Bond is, don’t ask me. But he might be in the room. Just kidding… or maybe not,” said Craig, sparking excitement and curiosity.
Craig, who played Bond in iconic films like “Casino Royale” and “No Time to Die”, has previously stated that he is indifferent about who takes up the mantle. Meanwhile, Broccoli and Wilson have emphasised the importance of choosing the right actor for the role.
The 2024 Governors Awards also celebrated other cinematic legends, including casting director Juliet Taylor, filmmaker Richard Curtis, and the late Quincy Jones, who passed away earlier this month. As the world waits with bated breath for the reveal of the next 007, Craig’s playful remark has only added fuel to the speculation.
