A man was shot and killed in Brooklyn on Friday night in what police sources say may have been a road rage incident.
Police say they got a 911 call around 10 p.m. reporting a shooting on Crescent Street near Stanley Avenue in East New York. When officers arrived, they say they found a man who had been shot in the chest.
Paramedics rushed the gunshot victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as 27-year-old Gurdeep Singh, of Queens.
Surveillance video obtained by CBS News New York shows what appears to be two people fighting in the street, then a flash of light from apparent gunshots. One person then falls to the ground, and the other gets in a car and drives off.
Anthony Santos works nearby and says he heard about six gunshots. He said he thought it was fireworks until he saw an ambulance.
“Absolutely, like, shocked. Like, I’m afraid,” he said.
Police spent hours searching the neighborhood for evidence late Friday night into Saturday morning.
No arrests have been made so far.
The investigation is ongoing.
The shooting happened in the 75th police precinct, where there have been at least 28 shooting incidents so far this year. That includes a shooting on Wednesday that killed a 17-year-old inside a restaurant on New Lots Avenue. Police are still searching for two individuals in connection to that incident.
“I gotta be careful now around here with the shootings and stuff,” Santos said
At this time last year, police had recorded 27 shootings in the 75th precinct.
