ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– A former drug counselor at the Camino Nuevo Chemical Dependency Outpatient Program has been formally charged after sexual abuse allegations in January. According to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, 62-year-old Benaya Rogers was arraigned on multiple charges on Monday.
Officials said Rogers was accused of having inappropriate behavior towards his patient in 2024 and 2025. According to police, she accused him of touching her chest and other unwanted sexual advances.
On Monday, Rogers was charged with first degree sexual abuse and three counts of forcible touching. Officials said he pleaded not guilty to all charges.
According to the DA’s Office, after his initial arrest in January, police were asking for other victims to come forward. While the treatment center did not comment on the case, they did confirm that Rogers was no longer employed with the agency.
According to the treatment center, the 175 Central Avenue location offers substance use counseling, medicated assisted treatments, mental health counseling and overdose prevention services.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, after his arraignment, he was released on his previous bail of $100,000, $150,000 bond and $200,000 partially secured bond. He was then given an electronic ankle monitor and was ordered to surrender his passport.
