Brooklyn detectives are looking for answers as to who stabbed a woman while she was out jogging on Friday night and left her fighting for her life.
Police said the bloody assault occurred along a pathway in the vicinity of Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue in Bath Beach at about 8:20 p.m. on Oct. 30.
Sources familiar with the investigation said the victim, a 28-year-old woman, was running through the area on her own when an unidentified attacker suddenly stabbed her in the neck.
The motive for the assault is unknown at this time, and police do not yet know whether it was a random attack, the sources said.
Officers from the 62nd Precinct found the wounded victim after receiving a 911 call about the stabbing. EMS rushed her to NYU Langone-Brooklyn hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation. Police did not yet have a description of the suspect available.
Throughout Saturday, an NYPD spokesperson said it had numerous special teams out canvassing the area for clues, including the Brooklyn South Detective Squad, Scuba and Aviation teams, K9 officers, and drones.
