New York | October 22, 2025-A massive fire broke out in Queens’ Ozone Park early Wednesday morning, injuring two people and damaging two homes. According to the FDNY, the blaze was sparked by illegal fireworks used during Diwali celebrations.
The fire began around 2:20 a.m. on Lincoln Street and quickly spread to a neighboring house. Two residents sustained minor injuries and were treated at a nearby hospital. More than 60 firefighters worked for over an hour to bring the flames under control.
Local residents expressed frustration, saying that repeated complaints about fireworks in the area went unanswered. Despite being strictly illegal in New York City, fireworks are often used during festive occasions like Diwali.
“This could have been much worse,” said one neighbor. “People keep lighting fireworks with no regard for safety or the law.”
Authorities are investigating the incident, reminding the public that safety must come before celebration.
