Right After the Debate, Cuomo Heads to Knicks Game — and Surprises Everyone by Sitting Next to Eric Adams!

New York | October 22, 2025–The New York City mayoral race took an unexpected turn last night — not on the debate stage, but courtside at Madison Square Garden.
Moments after the final mayoral debate, former Governor Andrew Cuomo, now running as an independent candidate, was spotted at the New York Knicks’ season opener, sitting right next to former Mayor Eric Adams — once his political rival.

Debate Ends, Game Begins

Cuomo faced off against Zohran Mamdani and Curtis Sliwa in a heated debate that capped weeks of intense campaigning.
But before the spotlight could fade, he made a swift exit — heading straight to Madison Square Garden to catch the Knicks’ opening game.
Within minutes, cameras captured the unexpected moment: Cuomo and Adams, side by side, smiling, as if the debate stage had suddenly turned into a basketball court of camaraderie.

Mamdani Calls It “Courtside Corruption”

Following the event, Mamdani took a jab on social media, writing:

“This is Cuomo politics in one frame — taxpayer-funded arrogance smiling from the courtside.”

He also accused Cuomo of misusing over $20 million in public funds to maintain his image while avoiding accountability to voters.

Political Optics or Calculated Move?

Analysts say Cuomo’s post-debate appearance was not just a leisure choice, but a carefully crafted political signal — an attempt to project confidence, ease, and relevance beyond the debate hall.
Critics, however, see it as a media maneuver, a way to stay in the headlines and dominate the conversation even after the cameras stopped rolling.

Symbolism Before the Ballot

With Election Day approaching fast, the battle between Mamdani and Cuomo is now playing out both on stage and in the stands.
One is trying to redefine accountability; the other, image.
And for New Yorkers watching it all unfold, one question lingers —
Was that courtside smile a symbol of confidence, or a calculated campaign move?
