Justice for Family as Ganesh Shenoy Faces Manslaughter Charges in 2005 Fatal Accident
New York, September 30, 2025: After 20 years, Ganesh Shenoy, the fugitive accused in a tragic Long Island car accident, has been extradited from India to the United States to face charges.
The 2005 Accident
On April 11, 2005, Shenoy, driving a 1993 Volvo, ran a red light on Levittown Parkway in Hicksville and collided with a Cadillac driven by Philip Mastropolo, 44. Mastropolo died at the scene.
Fugitive Status
Following the accident, Shenoy fled to Mumbai within two weeks, and although charges were pending, he remained at large. In August 2005, a grand jury formally indicted him.
Extradition and Legal Process
On September 25, 2025, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, the Department of Justice, and the Indian Embassy, Shenoy was extradited from India to the U.S. This marks the first extradition from India since 2017.
Charges and Potential Sentence
Shenoy faces manslaughter charges, which carry a potential sentence of 5 to 15 years. Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said:
“Holding Shenoy accountable after two decades is a major victory for the Mastropolo family.”
His next court hearing is scheduled for October 14, 2025.
