New York, September 25, 2025 — A dramatic incident unfolded Wednesday evening inside Manhattan’s busy Penn Station when an off-duty NYPD officer shot and wounded a man who allegedly attempted to rob her and her husband.
How It Happened
According to police sources, the officer and her husband — both former members of the NYPD — arrived at the station around 7 p.m. when a 32-year-old man tried to rob them. The confrontation began on the train and spilled onto the platform near tracks 18 and 19. During the struggle, the suspect allegedly attempted to attack them, prompting the officer to fire her weapon, striking the man.
Condition of the Injured
The wounded suspect was rushed to a nearby hospital, where officials say he is now in stable condition. The officer and her husband were also taken for medical evaluation; one of them sustained a cut to the ear during the scuffle.

The shooting caused temporary disruption to several Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) trains. NYPD and MTA officials quickly secured the area and launched a full investigation. Commuters were advised to avoid parts of the station while authorities worked at the scene.
