Dispute outside a restaurant turns deadly; NYPD searching for two suspects
NEW YORK — A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot Wednesday night outside a restaurant in Brooklyn’s East New York neighborhood, prompting an ongoing investigation by the New York City Police Department (NYPD).
According to preliminary police information, the shooting happened shortly after 8:20 p.m. on New Lots Avenue, where an argument between two individuals escalated into gunfire.
The victim, identified as 17-year-old Ahmir Jordan, was shot in the head. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but Jordan was pronounced dead at the location.
Another Person Injured
A 35-year-old man was also injured during the incident. Police said he was apparently inside the restaurant when the shooting occurred and suffered a minor injury to his right hand from shattered glass.
He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Two Suspects Remain at Large
Police say two suspects fled the scene following the shooting. Investigators are working to identify and locate them.
Authorities described the suspects as wearing black clothing and blue masks at the time of the incident.
No arrests have been reported, and investigators have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
Police also said Jordan had no known prior contact or history with law enforcement.
Separate Stabbing Injures Two Teenage Girls
Around the same time, less than half a mile away on Van Siclen Avenue, two teenage girls—ages 13 and 15—were reportedly stabbed.
The girls were taken to Brookdale Hospital and were listed in stable condition.
Investigators said there is currently no indication that the stabbing was connected to the fatal shooting.
Investigation Continues
The deadly shooting has renewed concerns about gun violence and the safety of young people in New York City.
NYPD detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are working to identify and apprehend the two suspects.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist investigators.
For the family of 17-year-old Ahmir Jordan, however, the investigation comes amid an unimaginable loss—the death of a teenager whose life was cut tragically short.
