DHAKA: Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain has discussed the potential for a meeting between Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the BIMSTEC summit in Thailand.
He dropped the hint following the advisor’s recent discussions with India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar at the United Nations General Assembly.
Touhid noted that the BIMSTEC summit schedule could be set in November.
The two leaders will miss the Commonwealth Summit in Samoa in October, as Modi will be attending the BRICS conference at that time.
About his discussion with Jaishankar, Touhid said: “We spoke about the current situation with the Indian foreign minister, as we usually do. Both sides agreed on the importance of maintaining good relations, as it serves the interests of both Bangladesh and India.”
He added, “I will work to establish communication at various levels to address mutual concerns.”
