THROGGS NECK, Bronx (WABC) — A 34-year-old woman was shot multiple times outside a home in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx Monday night, and police are searching for two masked gunmen who fled the scene in an SUV.
The shooting happened outside a residence on Hollywood Avenue just before 10:10 p.m.
Officials say it happened when the woman pulled up and her 15-year-old son got out of the car to open the gate. He yelled for her to look out and she was shot while in the driver’s seat.
She was struck in the left arm and buttocks.
The victim was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and is expected to survive.
Police said the suspects fled southbound on Hollywood Avenue in a gray SUV, possibly a Kia. One of the men was wearing a black Nike sweatshirt. No arrests have been made.
Detectives do not yet know what prompted the shooting and continue to investigate a possible motive.
At the scene, officers surrounded a vehicle parked outside the home. The driver’s side door was left open as investigators examined what appeared to be bullet damage to the driver’s side window.
