New York, September 25, 2025 — During his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, U.S. President Donald Trump faced a series of unprecedented technical failures. Trump dismissed them as mere accidents, claiming instead that they were part of a “triple sabotage” plot aimed at embarrassing him and the First Lady.
One mishap after another
According to the President:
• Escalator halt: As he and First Lady Melania entered the hall, the moving escalator suddenly stopped. Trump remarked, “We could have fallen in an instant!”
• Teleprompter failure: Moments after taking the stage, his teleprompter went completely dark, leaving him without scripted guidance.
• Microphone silence: The audio system failed during the speech, making it impossible for the audience to hear. Melania later commented, “I couldn’t hear a word you said.”
UN explanation vs. Trump’s suspicion
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated that CCTV footage shows a U.S. representative accidentally triggering the escalator’s safety function, causing it to stop. Trump, however, rejected this explanation, calling the events “not one, not two, but three sinister events!”
White House stance
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt told Fox News that the incidents were a deliberate attempt to embarrass the President and First Lady.
Political and symbolic message
Despite the technical failures, Trump criticized the UN for straying from its purpose and warned European nations that failing to control immigration would result in their countries “going to hell.”
Questions linger
Several questions remain at the center of this controversy:
• Were these merely accidents, or a deliberate sabotage?
• Did the UN fail to maintain security and protocol for the President?
• Or is Trump using the incident as a political instrument?
The events have sparked debate across the political spectrum and highlighted the intense scrutiny surrounding presidential appearances at international forums.
