When we watch breaking news on television, see election results appear live on screen, or admire the futuristic virtual sets used during newscasts, we often focus on the anchor, the camera, or the headline. But behind these captivating visuals lies the work of a creative force most viewers will never know by name. One such figure is Sk Monoar Nahid, a trailblazing broadcast graphics designer who has quietly transformed television visuals in Bangladesh.
Humble Beginnings, Bold Vision
Raised in a small town, Nahid dreamed big at a time when few around him believed such dreams could be realized. Fascinated by what happened behind the scenes of a television screen, he developed an early curiosity for the invisible world of media production. Academically brilliant, he completed both a BSc and MBA, and could have easily stepped into a corporate career. Instead, he chose a path of creativity, technology, and design.
After earning a diploma in motion graphics from Anand Multimedia—at a time when the field was still emerging in Bangladesh—he began his professional journey in 2007 as a Junior Motion Graphics Designer at RTV. Armed with fresh skills and ambitious vision, he was determined to make his mark.
Leading the Creative Revolution
His early work at RTV helped refine his skills, but his influence grew rapidly. Within a few years, he was contributing to leading TV channels including Jamuna TV, Independent TV, and Channel 24. Under his creative leadership, groundbreaking on-air graphics like news timers, scroll bars, real-time election result boards, and virtual studio backdrops became the industry standard.
His work introduced a dynamic shift in the country’s media landscape. From real-time election visuals to interactive map-based results, many of Bangladesh’s major broadcast innovations can be traced back to Nahid’s creative vision.
International Recognition
In 2016, he received the prestigious “Pro Viz Artist Designer” certificate from Vizrt, a world-renowned Norwegian company. That same year, he was honored at the IBC – International Broadcasting Convention in the Netherlands by both Adobe and Vizrt—making him the first Bangladeshi designer to receive such an honor on a global stage.
In June 2025, he added another international milestone to his career by receiving the “Asian Business Iconic Award 2025” in Kathmandu, Nepal, for his leadership in broadcast and visual graphics. The award was presented by Nepal’s Minister of Forest and Environment, and attended by dignitaries from eight South Asian nations.
In July 2025, he served as an international jury member at the Motion Graphics Contest 2025, organized by Pathshala South Asian Media Institute. Participants from five countries competed under the theme “For a Better, Greener Earth,” and Nahid played a central role in evaluating the finalists.
Training the Next Generation
In 2019, Nahid expanded his contribution beyond his own work—by training professionals in Vizrt graphics systems at DBC News. This made him the first Bangladeshi to provide localized training in a high-end international broadcast technology, making advanced tools accessible to native professionals.
Faculty Role at Pathshala
Currently, Nahid teaches at Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, where he trains aspiring designers not just in software but in storytelling, ethics, and the broader role of visual artists in shaping public perception. Many of his former students now work in top local and international media organizations—testament to his enduring influence.
National Awards and Accolades
Nahid’s professional excellence has earned him a series of prestigious awards in Bangladesh. In May 2025, he was named Best Broadcast Graphics Designer (News Broadcasting) at the Excellence in Success Award ceremony held at Sky City Banquet Hall, Dhaka.
That same month, he received the Sher-e-Bangla Star Award 2025 for his creative contribution to television and active role in environmental advocacy.
In July 2025, he was honored with the South Asia Cine Golden Star Award for his long-standing work in ICT literature and writing.
Later that month, he received another major accolade—the Star Bangladesh Award 2025, where he was named Best Broadcast Graphics Designer in Motion Graphics & AI Innovation.
Earlier, in 2018, he had received the Star Performance Award from Index Media, further cementing his status as a creative changemaker.
A Thought Leader in Design & Technology
Nahid is also an accomplished author. His book “Creatives in Television Broadcast Industry” is widely regarded as a practical guidebook for both aspiring and seasoned media professionals. It delves into election coverage formulas, augmented reality integration, and future trends in broadcast technology.
A Green Warrior
Despite being a tech visionary, Nahid is also deeply passionate about the environment. His second book, “Guardians of Earth: Simple Steps to a Sustainable Future”, offers practical tips for everyday people to lead environmentally conscious lives.
On July 9, 2025, he organized a unique public awareness campaign in Khulna titled “I Am the Guardian of the Earth.” Despite rain, dozens of students and citizens participated, wearing T-shirts bearing the campaign slogan and receiving eco-themed medals after a quiz competition. His goal: to promote mindful consumption, reduce plastic use, and spark collective action for a greener world.
A Visionary Entrepreneur
As the founder and CEO of RudraFx, Nahid has extended his reach far beyond Bangladesh. His company now operates in Portugal, Dubai, and the United States, providing media production, IT services, and visual content solutions. RudraFx not only delivers world-class output but also creates employment opportunities for young creatives in South Asia.
Shaping Light from Behind the Camera
Sk Monoar Nahid is a rare talent—his work stays behind the camera, but its impact touches millions of eyes every day. He has proven that even those in the background can become national pride.
He is not just a designer. He is a dreamer, a mentor, a green activist, and a creative force who turns light and shadow into stories.
