The dinosaur nightmare of ‘The End of Oak Street’ lands on digital

“The End of Oak Street”, a sci-fi survival thriller from director David Robert Mitchell, has arrived on digital for premium purchase and rental.
The film became available on Monday, with Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor starring as parents whose suburban neighbourhood has been torn from its surroundings by a mysterious cosmic event.
The Platt family finds itself stranded somewhere unknown and must stick together to survive, with prehistoric predators roaming the unfamiliar landscape.
Maisy Stella and Christian Convery also star in the Warner Bros. release, which was written and directed by Mitchell and produced by JJ Abrams, Dread Central reports.
Viewing options are available through the film’s official website, it added.
The film has reportedly drawn attention for its portrayal of dinosaurs as genuinely terrifying creatures.
In a recent review, Dread Central described the film as “a full-on slasher movie with all manner of dinosaurs”, crediting Mitchell with recreating the creeping dread of “It Follows”.
The report said finding a strong dinosaur film outside the “Jurassic Park” franchise, and excluding animated family films, has proved surprisingly difficult.
“The End of Oak Street” has been hailed by some critics as the best dinosaur-focused film since Steven Spielberg’s 1990s classic.
The film currently holds an 86 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, although it underperformed at the box office.
Its digital release could give the prehistoric adventure a chance to find a warmer reception among viewers.
