Daily News: A teenager who was “full of dreams” and wanted to join the Navy was shot to death on a Bronx street early Sunday, leaving a heartbroken family distraught at the senseless end to a promising future.
Juan Pena, 18, was shot multiple times all over his body near E. Tremont and Park Aves. at about 1:25 a.m., cops said.
A neighbor, Shamar James, 48, told The News he had stayed the night at a friend’s place near the shooting scene and was awoken when shots rang out.
“Like around 10 gunshots,” he said. “When I looked out the window I didn’t see anything.”
Medics rushed Pena to St. Barnabas Hospital, but he could not be saved. He was less than a mile from home when he was shot, according to cops.
Cops have made no arrests.
The slaying marks the first homicide this year in the 48th Precinct, which saw 11 killings in 2024, NYPD stats show.
