Entertainment Desk: Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for the third and concluding season of its hit Korean drama “Squid Game”, which left fans hanging with a dramatic Season 2 ending. The second and third seasons were filmed consecutively and conceived as a single, continuous storyline.
Following the failed uprising by Seong Gi-hun, also known as Player 456 (played by Lee Jung-jae), which ended with the tragic death of his closest friend Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan) at the hands of The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who had secretly participated as a fake contestant, the lethal games inspired by East Asian childhood recreations show no signs of stopping.
After its global debut in December, Season 2 of “Squid Game” became Netflix’s most-watched show in a single week and now ranks as the streaming giant’s third most-watched series of all time, trailing behind its first season, followed by “Wednesday”.
Alongside the lead cast, several familiar faces are set to reprise their roles in the upcoming season. Yim Si-wan, Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Park Gyu-young, and Wi Ha-joon will all return, as the majority of the central alliance made it through the revolt.
The third season of “Squid Game” will premiere on Netflix on June 27.
