Entertainment Desk: Acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has revealed which of his own films he considers his most defining works. Speaking on The Church of Tarantino podcast, the two-time Oscar winner reflected on his career and the films closest to his heart.
“’Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ is my favourite, ‘Inglourious Basterds’ is my best,” Tarantino said, before adding that “Kill Bill” remains his most personal creation. “I think Kill Bill is the ultimate Quentin movie, like nobody else could’ve made it. Every aspect is ripped from my imagination, my passion, and my obsessions. It’s the movie I was born to make.”
The director praised “Inglourious Basterds” as his finest-written script, with “The Hateful Eight” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” following closely. Interestingly, he also credited “The Hateful Eight” as perhaps his strongest directorial achievement, saying it was his best work in “servicing the material as a director”.
Despite his affection for “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, Tarantino confirmed he will not direct its upcoming Netflix sequel about Cliff Booth, played by Brad Pitt. The project will instead be helmed by David Fincher. “I love this script, but ending my career with a sequel unenthused me. This last movie, I’ve got to not know what I’m doing again,” he explained.
Tarantino has long maintained that his 10th film will be his final work, though fans continue to hope he may reconsider.
