PIX11: If you’re looking to score a deal on an apartment in New York City, a new StreetEasy study has highlighted the neighborhoods with the highest rental concessions.
Over 22% of available rentals in New York City offered at least a month of free rent in December, according to StreetEasy. The last time landlords offered that high of a percentage on concessions was in July 2021, the study said.
These are New York City neighborhoods that offered the best deals on apartments in December:
Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn
Mott Haven, the Bronx
Jamaica, Queens
Midtown South, Manhattan
Battery Park City, Manhattan
Long Island City, Queens
Downtown Brooklyn, Brooklyn
DUMBO, Brooklyn
Financial District, Manhattan
Greenpoint, Brooklyn
Jamaica has the cheapest median rent of those neighborhoods at $2,475 a month. The majority of the neighborhoods that offered deals on rent had higher percentages of newly constructed buildings, according to StreetEasy.
Overall, the number of available apartments to rent in New York City was 26,898 in December, the study said. Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx continue to have increasing rental availability, while Manhattan’s sharply declined last month, according to StreetEasy.
