A vibrant celebration of Sylheti heritage, community and cultural unity

The Jalalabad Association of America Inc., one of the leading social organizations representing the Greater Sylhet community in the United States, hosted its much-anticipated “Summer Bash” in a festive and joyful atmosphere. The event brought together a large number of Sylheti expatriates and their families, turning the celebration into a vibrant gathering of community, culture and friendship.
Under the overall leadership of Association President Moinul Islam and General Secretary Ataul Gani Asad, a dedicated celebration committee worked to ensure the successful organization of the event. The committee was headed by Convener Sheikh Jamal Hossain, Chief Convener Layes Ahmed (Minu), Chief Coordinator Moin Uz Zaman Chowdhury, and Member Secretary Helim Uddin. Joint Member Secretaries were Kamrul Hossain and Shahinul Islam.
Committee members included A. Rahim (Kadir), Joynal Uddin Layek, Masuk Mia, Syed Lokman, Badrul Uddin, and Dewan Md. Tajjir.
Taking a break from their busy lives in the diaspora, Bangladeshi families came together to enjoy an afternoon of community bonding and entertainment. The event featured lively conversations, reunions, food and merchandise stalls, and an extensive cultural program that kept the venue vibrant throughout the celebration.
Popular artists from Bangladesh, the United Kingdom and the United States performed throughout the program. The musical lineup included Selim Chowdhury, Rizia Parvin, Kamruzzaman Bakul, Wahid from London, Shah Mahbub, Baul Kala Mia, Nasir Uddin, Roksana Mirza, Nazu Akand, Aftab Jony, Silma, and the team led by Apu Rahman.
Professional event management by Soundgear, along with a high-quality sound system, added to the energy and enjoyment of the program. Nearly 20 colorful stalls were also set up at the venue, attracting considerable attention from attendees.
Organizers said one of the primary objectives of the Summer Bash was to help the younger generation growing up in the diaspora remain connected to their cultural heritage, traditions and roots. Strengthening friendship, unity and social bonds within the Sylheti-American community was another key goal of the celebration.
With the collective efforts of the organizing committee and the enthusiastic participation of community members, the Jalalabad Association of America’s “Summer Bash” concluded as a successful, memorable and joyous celebration of Sylheti culture and community spirit.
