Virginia woman denies trying to hit federal agents as DHS gives sharply different account

A confrontation between a Virginia woman and federal immigration officers has sparked renewed controversy over ICE enforcement tactics after the woman alleged that an ICE agent pointed a gun at her during an immigration operation in Falls Church.
Carolina Molina, 36, made the allegations at a news conference organized by immigrant-rights advocates. She strongly denied claims that she attempted to use her vehicle to strike ICE officers.
Molina said she was in the area to introduce herself to local attorneys and distribute business cards when she encountered several unmarked vehicles and federal agents conducting an immigration enforcement operation.
According to Molina, she drove past an ICE agent and made an offensive remark through her vehicle window. She said the situation escalated when the agent moved in front of her vehicle, blocked her path and pointed a firearm at her.
Molina said the agent questioned why she was following the officers. She maintained that she had no intention of confronting or harming anyone and simply wanted to leave the area.
‘I DID NOT TRY TO HIT THEM WITH MY CAR’
Molina said she pulled out her cellphone in an attempt to record the confrontation. She alleges that ICE officers then accused her of trying to run them over with her vehicle.
She strongly rejected that allegation.
“I did not try to hit them with my car,” Molina said, describing the encounter as frightening and confusing.
She said she was shocked when an ICE agent pointed a gun at her and maintained that she never intended to use her vehicle as a weapon.
DHS OFFERS A VERY DIFFERENT ACCOUNT
The Department of Homeland Security, however, has provided a sharply different version of events.
In a statement to ABC News, a DHS spokesperson alleged that Molina was driving around ICE officers and attempting to use her vehicle as a weapon to cause them harm.
According to DHS, officers stopped Molina because they believed their safety was at risk. The agency also indicated that criminal charges could potentially be pursued in connection with the incident.
The conflicting accounts have left key questions about the confrontation unresolved.
VIDEO, WITNESSES COULD BE CRITICAL
Any available video footage, cellphone recordings, witness statements and official records could play a critical role in determining what happened.
Molina says she attempted to record the encounter with her cellphone. If additional video or other evidence becomes available, it could help establish the sequence of events and clarify the circumstances surrounding the use of the firearm.
