ABC7 News: A muti-agency operation concentrated in the Bronx on Tuesday targeted dozens of undocumented immigrants for arrest and deportation, including a purported member of Tren de Aragua wanted in connection with a caught-on-camera home invasion and shooting in Aurora, Colorado.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem rode alongside federal agents and witnessed both criminal and civil enforcement operations, according to sources familiar with the actions in New York.
Noem posted photos of the raids on social media throughout the morning.
Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, 25, was arrested after heavily armed agents from Homeland Security Investigations, Drug Enforcement Administration and NYPD officers poured into an apartment on Ogden Avenue in the Highbridge section of the Bronx. He was wanted in Aurora and in New York for multiple crimes including burglary, kidnapping, extortion and menacing.
The targets of other immigration operations in the city Tuesday were not immediately clear.
Mayor Eric Adams said he directed the NYPD to coordinate with DHS and other federal law enforcement agencies to conduct the immigration enforcement action on Tuesday morning.
