The award was presented Saturday evening, October 3, during a spectacular musical celebration at the Evangel Christian Center in Long Island City, Queens, drawing musicians, cultural figures and a large audience from New York’s Bangladeshi-American community.
The event was organized by The Beautiful Ladies of USA, with Mohammad Zahid Alam, CEO of New York Senior Adult Day Care, serving as the chief guest. Nadia Chowdhury and Silvi Akand oversaw the event’s overall management.
During the concert, popular Bangladeshi singers Imran Mahmudul and Dilshad Nahar Kona, joined by the organizers, presented the award to D.Q. Mithun on stage amid applause from the audience.
The award citation praised Mithun’s exceptional instrumental talent, command of rhythm, creativity and deep commitment to music. His continued work in the diaspora, where his drumming has helped energize live performances and captivate audiences, was also recognized.
Accepting the honor, D.Q. Mithun described music as a lifelong passion and dedication.
“Music has been a place of passion and devotion for me for many years. Being able to bring joy to audiences through the rhythm of drums, even amid the demands of life in the diaspora, is my greatest achievement.”
He said the recognition has strengthened his sense of responsibility and renewed his commitment to music, while expressing gratitude to the organizers, fellow artists and audience members.
For New York’s Bangladeshi-American cultural community, the honor marks another significant achievement for a diaspora artist whose work continues to bring energy, rhythm and musical expression to the community’s vibrant cultural scene.
