New York – August 27, 2025: The wave of gun violence in the Bronx claimed another life on Wednesday morning. Around 8:35 a.m., gunfire erupted inside an apartment building at 1412 College Avenue in the Claremont section, leaving one man dead and two others wounded.
Police said the victim, a 37-year-old man, was shot in the chest and later pronounced dead at the hospital. The two other victims—a 62-year-old man shot in the arm and a 59-year-old man struck in the hip—were rushed to nearby hospitals. Both are expected to survive and are listed in stable condition.
Officers from the 44th Precinct quickly responded to the scene and launched an investigation. A 44-year-old suspect has been taken into custody for questioning, though authorities have not yet confirmed a motive or the relationship between the suspect and the victims.
Residents of the building and surrounding neighborhood were shaken by the incident. With gun violence surging in parts of the Bronx in recent months, the shooting has heightened concerns about safety and the need for stronger measures to curb such violence.
