With just a week left before New York City voters head to the polls, the mayoral race has entered a heated final phase. Former Mayor Mike Bloomberg has once again come forward to reaffirm his support for Andrew Cuomo, giving the former governor a fresh boost in the crucial closing days of the campaign.
In a social media post, Bloomberg wrote:
“Four months ago, I endorsed Andrew Cuomo because I believed he has the experience and understanding of government to lead this city effectively. I still believe that today.”
He continued,
“Being the Mayor of New York City is the second-hardest job in America. The next mayor will face enormous challenges, and Andrew Cuomo has the toughness, experience, and leadership to meet them. I hope you’ll join me in supporting him.”
Bloomberg’s renewed endorsement could provide Cuomo with critical momentum as early voting begins across the city.
Meanwhile, the race remains tight, with Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old progressive Assembly member from Queens, emerging as Cuomo’s strongest challenger. Mamdani, running as a Democratic Socialist, has gained significant traction since winning the party’s nomination in June.
According to a recent poll, Mamdani currently leads with 43% support, while Cuomo trails with 33%. Analysts, however, say Bloomberg’s backing could help Cuomo close the gap in the final days of the campaign.
As election day approaches, the question looms large across New York — will voters choose the seasoned leadership of Andrew Cuomo, or the new progressive energy of Zohran Mamdani?
The countdown has begun, and the battle for the Big Apple’s future is now more intense than ever.
