New York, October 13, 2025: As New York City’s mayoral race enters its final stretch, Yatin Chu, President of the Asian Wave Alliance (AWA), appeared on NY1’s Inside City Hall to discuss the group’s endorsement of former Governor Andrew Cuomo and outline the organization’s future plans for the community.
AWA, which advocates for the rights and well-being of the Asian community, endorsed Cuomo due to his strong stance on public safety and education policies. Chu stated,
“Governor Cuomo has long worked for our community, and under his leadership, we expect continued progress.”
Chu also emphasized the Alliance’s efforts to increase voter awareness and participation within the community. He said,
“We want our community’s voice to be heard and represented through active engagement in the electoral process.”
According to a recent poll, former Governor Cuomo holds 33% support, placing him in second, while Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani leads with 46%. (ny1.com)
The endorsement from AWA gives Cuomo a strong position in the race, though the final outcome will determine who ultimately shapes the future leadership of New York City.
