Mayor Eric Adams’ director of Asian Affairs has resigned, a City Hall spokesperson says, and a former Adams aide who had been on leave has been terminated, according to sources.
Winnie Greco, Adams’ longtime aide and director of Asian Affairs, tendered her resignation Monday, a City Hall spokesperson said.
Greco helped fundraise for Adams’ 2021 mayoral campaign. Her resignation comes months after FBI agents searched two homes she owns in the Bronx.
Meanwhile, sources said Rana Abbasova, a former Adams aide and liaison to the Turkish community, was terminated from City Hall on Monday.
Abbasova, who had been on leave from City Hall since November 2023, is reportedly cooperating with federal investigators in the probe looking at whether Adams’ mayoral campaign conspired with the Turkish government to receive illegal donations.
Adams was indicted late last month on federal charges that he took illegal campaign contributions and bribes from foreign nationals in exchange for favors.
Abbasova’s attorney declined to comment Monday.
A City Hall spokesperson said Adams staffer Mohammed Bahi, who worked in the mayor’s Community Affairs Unit, also resigned on Monday.
“We thank them for their service to the city,” the spokesperson said of Greco and Bahil.
Adams’ deputy mayor for public safety, Phil Banks, stepped down Sunday night, the mayor said Monday on “Mornings On 1.”
