968 Bangladeshis in “Removals in Progress”; 227 Removed During First Half of 2026

Bangladesh has entered the top 10 nationalities of people facing removal from Canada, according to the latest figures from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
As of June 30, 2026, a total of 968 Bangladeshi nationals were listed as “Removals in Progress,” placing Bangladesh 10th among the nationalities on the list.
The figure does not mean that all 968 individuals have already been deported. “Removals in Progress” refers to cases in which the removal process is ongoing.
During the first six months of 2026, from January through June, 227 Bangladeshi nationals were removed from Canada, according to CBSA data.
The latest figures have placed Bangladesh back among the top 10 nationalities facing removal from Canada, highlighting the increasing scrutiny surrounding immigration enforcement and removal orders.
INDIA TOPS THE LIST
India had the largest number of nationals in the “Removals in Progress” category, with 7,669 people as of June 30.
Mexico followed with 6,561, while the United States had 2,179. China, Nigeria, Colombia, Pakistan, Brazil and Chile also ranked ahead of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh, with 968 individuals, ranked 10th.
Overall, Canada removed 10,607 foreign nationals during the first six months of 2026. Indian nationals accounted for the largest share, with 3,323 removals during the period.
GROWING CONCERN AMONG BANGLADESHI IMMIGRANTS
The latest figures are drawing attention within Canada’s Bangladeshi community, particularly among individuals whose immigration status is unresolved, whose applications have been refused, or who are subject to removal orders.
Immigration advocates emphasize, however, that nationality-based statistics do not tell the full story of an individual case. The reasons for removal and the legal circumstances surrounding each person can vary significantly.
CANADA STEPS UP IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT
The new figures reflect Canada’s continued focus on enforcing immigration laws and carrying out removal orders.
For Bangladeshi immigrants and prospective newcomers, the numbers underscore the importance of maintaining valid immigration status, providing accurate information in applications and following Canadian immigration laws throughout the process.
With 968 Bangladeshis currently in the removal process and 227 already removed during the first half of 2026, Canada’s latest figures signal a new level of scrutiny for immigration enforcement involving Bangladeshi nationals.
