India’s highly rated young batting prospect Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s much-anticipated T20I debut has been delayed, with the team management finally providing clarity on the decision.
The assistant coach explained that while Suryavanshi is regarded as a talented and promising player within the setup, the decision to hold back his debut is part of a structured long-term development plan.
He emphasized that selection at the international level is not based solely on talent, but also on readiness, consistency, and overall team balance. According to him, these factors led the management to postpone his inclusion in the playing XI for now.
The discussion around Suryavanshi’s debut gained momentum following India’s recent batting struggles in the series against Ireland, where fans and analysts questioned why the youngster was not given an opportunity amid underwhelming performances from the senior batting unit.
However, the coaching staff remains committed to its development strategy, insisting that gradual exposure to international cricket is the best path forward for the young batter.
Overall, Suryavanshi’s debut remains only a matter of time, but the exact timing will depend on team requirements, conditions, and management planning.
