New York, September 25, 2025 — Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani continues to maintain a strong lead in the New York City mayoral race. The latest Suffolk University “CityView” poll shows him significantly ahead of his competitors among likely voters.
Poll Results
• Mamdani commands 45% support among likely voters.
• Independent candidate Andrew Cuomo has 25%,
• Republican Curtis Sliwa has 9%,
• Incumbent Mayor Eric Adams trails with just 8%.
Across demographic groups, Mamdani leads with Black (53%), Hispanic (52%), and Asian (58%) voters. He also leads among white voters with 38%, compared to Cuomo’s 30%.
Voter priorities driving the race include cost of living (21%), crime (20%), and economy/jobs (14%).
Challenges for Rivals
Following his decisive primary win, Mamdani’s momentum appears strong, making it difficult for rivals to close the gap.
Both incumbent Mayor Adams and Cuomo are running as independents, which could split votes and strengthen Mamdani’s position. Other contenders include Irene Estrada (Conservative), Jim Walden, and Joseph Hernandez (Independents).
Looking Ahead
As election day approaches, debates, endorsements, and strategic campaigning will be critical. Any consolidation of anti-Mamdani support or a misstep on his part could tighten the race.
