Cultural Correspondent : Actress Zerin Kashfi Ruma received the Dhallywood Film and Music Awards 2025 in the best actress in Theatre and Media category on January 18 at New York.
The event was organized by Showtime Music at Queens Theatre of New York City in the United States of America.
The event chaired by the president and CEO of Showtime Music Alamgir Khan Alam, Zerin Kashfi Ruma received the award from Bangladeshi model and actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba.
The event also awarded actor Mamnun Hasan Emon, Prarthana Fardin Dighi, Lamia Tabassum Chaity, Safa Kabir and Ziaul Faruq Apurba in the Media category. Actor Ziaul Hoque Polash won the best actor for popular mega serial titled Bachelor Point.
Singer Selim Chowdhuri, Protik Hasan and Bindu Kona received Best Singer while Bangladeshi film actor Amit Hasan received the lifetime achievement award of the Dhallywood Film and Music Awards 2025.
Theatre artiste Zerin Kashfi Ruma performed more than 500 shows for Dhaka-based Shomoy Sangskritik Goshtee in 20 theatre productions since mid-90s.
‘I am happy to receive the award as a theatre actor. I express gratitude to the organizers, especially the CEO of Showtime Music Alamgir Khan Alam. The award will inspire me for my forthcoming solo theatre production “My Name Is Gauhar Jaan” which depicts the legendary classical performer of South Asia Gauhar Jaan on stage,’ said Zerin Kashfi Ruma.
