In the early hours of Monday, approximately $1 million worth of merchandise was stolen from 4G, a luxury resale boutique for men in SoHo, New York. The boutique primarily serves by appointment and is known for catering to celebrities and fashion-conscious clients.
According to police and store officials, a four-man crew entered the boutique around 4:45 a.m. via a second-floor window/fire escape.
Surveillance footage shows the masked thieves, dressed as construction workers, quickly filling bags with clothing, jewelry, and rare one-of-a-kind items before fleeing in a waiting sedan in just over four minutes. Many of the stolen items were valued at over $1,000 each.
Tom Macari, a brand ambassador for the store, said the crew had a spotter outside and a getaway driver, indicating a well-planned operation reminiscent of the recent high-profile Louvre Museum heist. “They knew exactly what they were after,” he said.
By the time the alarm was triggered, the New York Police Department (NYPD) arrived within 91 seconds, but the thieves had already escaped.
The boutique, known for its celebrity clientele, reportedly lost nearly $1 million in unique, one-of-a-kind artisanal items, which are difficult to resell without detection.
No arrests have been made so far. Police are asking for public assistance and have collected fingerprints and forensic evidence from the scene. Due to the distinctive nature of the stolen items, authorities hope they can be traced if anyone attempts to resell or publicly display them.
The owner of 4G, known in media circles as a curator and personal shopper for the stars, expressed shock and disappointment, calling the robbery a major blow to the boutique’s exclusivity and business.
