Year : 2, Issue: 6
by SUBARNO RAHMAN
Wow, these people are truly setting an excellent example of Muslims around the world. It’s getting very tiring to see grown men with children and families fighting over the most minuscule matters. Beyond all the corrupt politicians, there is a significant issue that Bengalis, specifically Bengali men, struggle with: the lack of self-control. This shameful incident in a place of worship is just the surface. Even, students at the most prestigious university in Bangladesh are beating and killing people over simple accusations. How can anyone justify this in any way? It is happening everywhere.
I suspect the root of this behavior lies in how these men were raised, often primitively, without being taught reason, understanding, or compassion. It’s not entirely their fault. They always believe they are right, and after age 12, their beliefs become ideological and resistant to change, regardless of whether they are right or wrong. For them, proving a point takes precedence over God. The potential progress that could be made if the general public simply refrained from commenting on mundane issues and spoke up against injustice is extraordinary. Unfortunately, everyone has a lot to say, and everyone thinks they are right.
The only way forward is for people to embrace lifelong learning; don’t stop learning after becoming an adult, because there is always someone who knows more than you. Respect for others’ perspectives is crucial in this journey. As my mentors advised me, whenever you point fingers, remember that three fingers point back at you.
