Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said Tuesday that his country will recognize a Palestinian state comprising the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, unified under the administration of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and with its capital in East Jerusalem. He stated in a televised speech that Spain will not recognize any changes to the Palestinian borders after 1967 unless all parties agreed to it.
The Spanish government is expected to officially announce the recognition later on Tuesday.
Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz lashed out at Spain on X, saying Sánchez’s government was “being complicit in inciting genocide against Jews and war crimes.”
