Shahadat Osman Mithun Honored as ‘Best Drummer’ at 40th FOBANA Convention

Choudhury:— The powerful rhythm of the drums took center stage at the 40th FOBANA Convention 2026 as talented drummer Mohammad Shahadat Osman Mithun captivated audiences with an energetic and technically impressive performance, earning the prestigious ‘Best Drummer’ Award, along with a medal and certificate of recognition.
The three-day convention, held at the Evangel Christian Center in New York, brought together members of the Bangladeshi diaspora for a celebration of music, culture and community. Mithun received the honor on September 6, during the convention’s closing-night program.With remarkable speed, precision and timing, Mithun delivered a dynamic performance that energized the audience and drew strong appreciation from the judges. His ability to blend contemporary fusion rhythms with the musical arrangements created a distinctive sound that resonated throughout the venue.
His performance was more than a display of technical skill—it reflected the creativity, discipline and passion of a new generation of diaspora musicians determined to carry Bengali musical traditions forward while embracing modern influences.
The award was presented on stage by FOBANA Central Executive Committee Chairman Zakaria Chowdhury, Executive Secretary Dewan Moniruzzaman, Host Committee Convener Nurul Amin Babu, Member Secretary Manzur Kader and Chief Patron Shafiqul Alam.
They presented Mithun with the ‘Best Drummer’ award, commemorative medal and official FOBANA certificate, recognizing his outstanding contribution to the convention’s musical program.
Community and cultural leaders said recognition of emerging artists such as Mithun is important to the continued growth of Bengali cultural activities in North America. They noted that the achievements of young diaspora musicians are helping create new opportunities for Bengali music while connecting traditional cultural expression with contemporary artistic styles.
For Shahadat Osman Mithun, the recognition at one of the largest Bengali cultural gatherings in North America marks a significant milestone in his musical journey.
