Sadia J. Choudhury :
A man was fatally stabbed in a Queens park early Wednesday morning, and police have arrested a 53-year-old Bronx man in connection with the killing.
Police responding to a report of an assault around 4:45 a.m. on October 7 found an unconscious man near Hillside Avenue and 175th Street at Major Mark Park in Jamaica Estates.
The victim had two stab wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
Authorities initially said the victim appeared to be in his 30s and was believed to be homeless. His identity has not been released pending notification of his family.
Police later arrested 53-year-old Bronx resident Abdullah Spencerel. He faces charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Investigators believe the stabbing may have followed an argument, though the circumstances leading up to the deadly confrontation remain under investigation.
Spencerel is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
