MANHATTAN, New York (WABC) — New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the opening of the Jobs NYC Center, a new hub that aims to connect New Yorkers to careers in public service.
The mayor and several members of his administration launched new hub Monday at 2 Lafayette St.
The center was developed by Small Business Services (SBS) and the Department of Citywide Administration Services (DCAS), turning a long-vacant city-owned space into a home for walk-in career services, job fairs and other services.
The city says the center will advance the administration’s commitment to connecting New Yorkers with good jobs and career pathways while putting the space back to work for residents.
The center will also host panels and workshops, share Civil Service exam schedules, provide helpful trainings and organize networking events.
“Every New Yorker deserves a real shot at a good job, including serving the city they call home,” Mayor Mamdani said. “The path to public service should not be difficult to navigate. The Jobs NYC Center will help New Yorkers find the right opportunity, understand what it takes to get hired and build a career in public service.”
Mayor Mamdani marked the launch by swearing in 17 new NYC Business Express Service Team (BEST) members.
Regular walk-in hours will begin Monday, October 5.
