CONCOURSE, Bronx (PIX11) — Police are looking for a gunman who they say shot a man in the chest late Monday night in the Bronx and took off with cash from a deli register.
The incident happened at around 12:16 a.m. at the 149 Grill and Deli at 143 East 149th Street.
Police say a man in a hoodie walked into the store, pulled out a gun, and started shooting immediately at a man.
Surveillance video shows the suspect taking what appears to be a man’s backpack before dropping it to the ground and going behind the counter. He then appears to continue firing his gun before taking money from the register, grabbing a bag out of the backpack, and running off.
Police say the victim, a 33-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Police say it is not known how much money he took, and the person who was shot is not an employee.
The NYPD is investigating what happened between the victim and the suspect.
No arrests have been made so far.
Submit tips to police by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, downloading the NYPD Crime Stoppers mobile app, or texting 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. Spanish-speaking callers are asked to dial 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
