Distribution of Food Items by Shah Foundation Among Flood Victims in Assam, India

Assam Correspondent: Shah Foundation, a New York-based service organization, has launched a series of flash floods in India’s northeastern state of Assam over the past few days. Meanwhile, the death toll from the floods has exceeded 90. Many are still missing. The number of people affected by the floods is more than 4.2 million.

At least 22 lakh 75 thousand people are marooned in various affected areas. Over 5,137 villages have been inundated in 27 of the state’s 33 districts. Crops of 50,000 hectares of land have been completely destroyed. Thousands of cattle and poultry died. Bridges, roads and infrastructure were also damaged in several districts of the state.
In this situation, the Shah Foundation, a New York-based service organization, has stood beside the helpless people of the flood-affected areas of Assam. Food items have been distributed among more than 200 middle and lower middle class families in Kanaibazar area of Assam. Today Shah J. is the founder and trustee of the Shah Foundation. The food aid was provided with the initiative and cooperation of Chowdhury.
In this regard, Shah J. Chowdhury said the Shah Foundation tries to stand beside the victims during various disasters and disasters. In continuation of this, this food aid has been given as a gift by the Shah Foundation among the flood victims of Assam. Terming the effort as very inadequate, he said the initiative of the foundation will be successful only if a family can spend a day of prosperity through this. “It’s not a help,” he said. This initiative is a sign of Shah Foundation’s love for the people which
will continue in the future.
Former President of Kanaibazar Ahimganj was present as the chief guest in the distribution of food items. Amirul Haque, Community Activist Maruf Ahmed and Qari Nazrul Islam Rahmani, principal of Jamia Islamia Hanifia Madrasa in Deubari.
