The much-anticipated biographical film “Mujib: The Making of a Nation,” portraying the life of Bangladesh’s founding father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has recently unveiled its first and only song, “Ochin Majhi.” With the film set to hit local theatres on October 13, both the trailer and now the song has gained immense attention from audiences and critics alike.
The release of “Ochin Majhi” has stirred a wave of praise and excitement surrounding the film. The music for “Ochin Majhi” is composed by Shantanu Moitra, with lyrics penned by Zahid Akbar and vocals provided by Rathijit Bhattacharjee. The lyrics originated from Dhaka and the final song was produced in Mumbai studios. The song’s emotional resonance is further amplified by the presence of Arifin Shuvoo, who portrays Bangabandhu in various scenes, piquing the interest of audiences and generating excitement for the full-length feature.
Directed by renowned Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal, “Mujib” features Arifin Shuvoo in the lead role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The film boasts a stellar cast, with Nusrat Imrose Tisha portraying Fazilatunnesa Mujib, Nusrat Faria as Sheikh Hasina, Riyaz Ahmed as Tajuddin Ahmed, and Zayed Khan as Tikka Khan, amongst others.
The film earned an uncut certificate from the censor board members after they watched it on July 31. Produced with 60 percent of the budget from Bangladesh and 40 percent from India, the “Mujib” biopic commenced shooting at Mumbai’s Film City on January 22, 2021, and concluded its production in Bangladesh on December 18, 2021.
