US President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order directing federal agencies to integrate their public-facing services with the newly launched America.gov, an AI-powered platform designed to provide a single portal for government services.
Trump said the order would require agencies to make their services accessible through America.gov “as soon as possible,” describing the platform as a transformation of how Americans interact with the federal government.
“Our goal is that anything you might need from the United States government will be accessible at your fingertips and very quickly at your command,” Trump said before signing the order.
He said America.gov would replace the need for citizens to navigate “10,000 forms” and thousands of government websites, allowing users to ask for services and receive assistance through the platform.
Trump said the technology would be designed with privacy and security in mind. “To ensure that your personal information is not collected or stored, and your conversation disappears when you leave, and everything stays totally private.”
“Cannot, in theory, be hacked into. And when they figure a way to do that, we’ll end it,” he added.
The executive order came as Trump was set to host leading technology executives, including Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI President Greg Brockman and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, for a White House lunch.
